OUR TOP 5 BARS TO VISIT IN LONDON
Written by: Alicia Hatcher | Posted: 10 January 2019 | Modified: 10 January 2019

It is no secret that London is home to some of the very best bars, and as a topic we feel very strongly about, we have decided to shortlist the top 5 best places to sip in style in 2019.

Dandelyan

Location: The Mondrian Hotel

Price Range: High

We have some good news and some bad news about our all-time favourite cocktail spot and the World’s Best Bar- Dandelyan. After 4 successful years at the South Bank location, Ryan Chetiyawardana announced its closure in the coming months. The good news however, is that this is not the end of Dandelyan. Mr Lyan states that ‘it makes sense to burn it down, start afresh, and rise again as something brighter, shinier and more fitting of where we’re (all) now at.’ So, nobody panic! We can be assured they will bounce back better than ever, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us.

Bourne & Hollingsworth

Location: Fitzrovia

Price Range: Mid-High

This new bar in Fitzrovia is dressed with superb interiors, including a marbled bar, individually sourced antique chairs, and a wallpaper comprised of delicate coral silk and finely woven cream wool, buttoned in bright florals. The new B&H bar offers the perfect space for after work drinks and special nights out, retaining the group’s excellent service and mouth-watering cocktails in a stunning modern backdrop.

The Ned, Nickel Bar

Location: The City

Price Range: Mid

This 5 star hotel that was once a bank, boasts a stylish interior and a bar to sip at without having to be a member or hotel guest. With another marbled bar top and cut glass lampshades, this bar echoes with live jazz music, nothing too loungey. The menu is short but sweet, with 10 cocktails and a few beers. We recommend the Nedgroni.

Apples and Pears

Location: Aldgate, Brick Lane

Price: Mid

This independent cocktail bar, described as an ‘urban bar with personality’, serves up an interesting and original menu of cocktails to sip in a small but arty building on brick lane. They love their music; playing everything from soul, funk, old school hip hop and 80s/90s party classics at the weekends, and during the weekends, live acoustic sessions. Their house cocktail; Apples & Pears and is one to try straight up from the stairs.

Purl London

Location: Marylebone

Price: High

This London bar brings flare and creativity to forgotten libations from the prohibition era. They are passionate about forward thinking cocktails that combine complementary flavours and heighten the senses through using aromas, fogs, airs, foams, food and even liquid nitrogen to bring the drink to life. They also have live jazz music on a Wednesday night and hold cocktail masterclasses for any sized group to mix, muddle, shake and stir their way through!
